On July long weekend we went on a camping trip to Banff, AB with some family. It was Canada’s 150th Birthday and my birthday as well. We had decided to try out the new O-Tentik’s that Banff had just finished. We were the very first visitors to stay in ours, which we thought was pretty exciting! We had a great experience and wanted to share it here, since it is considered a small space, and everyone seems to want to know what on earth an O-Tentik is. Continue reading “What is an O-Tentik?”
Body & Mind
I am taking a little side journey here. I am anxious to take you on a tour of the tiny house but there are some details that are getting finished right now and I would like you to see it 100% complete. So excited about that day! Bear with me and I would like to talk a bit about the health awakening I’ve been on. I am a researcher at heart. Continue reading “Body & Mind”
All Decked Out
So, I know you’ve been chomping at the bit to see my surprise… Continue reading “All Decked Out”
The Children’s Split Loft
Hello there! It’s been a bit since my last post. I have been wanting to do a tour of the house space by space, but we are still in the process of getting it complete. So, I am going to start with the kids lofts as it was requested and is a space that is almost done, and then for the next post I will head outside for a surprise. You’ll want to see that for sure!
So this is our children’s split loft. We had hoped to give them each their own whole loft and were going to build a master bedroom on the main floor but in talks with the builder and his designer decided to make that space our living room/dining room/guest room. Continue reading “The Children’s Split Loft”
Hiccups
So we’ve had a few hiccups as of late. The first: we are on well water that seems to have a lot of iron in it. We have tried two filters, but they clogged within a week or two and we’re back to where we started. Continue reading “Hiccups”
Dishes
I have been very fond of dishwashers in the past. When there were dishes to get hand washed I would be slow to get them done. When we were planning out our house we were asked if we wanted a dishwasher. I was surprised, as I hadn’t thought that possible in a tiny house. My hubby very adamantly refused the option. I was a bit more hesitant to say no. Continue reading “Dishes”
Two Weeks!
So we’ve hit our two week mark living in the tiny house. We are all alive and well. Actually, we are fantastic! This new way of living is such a great fit for us. There are some pros and cons for sure, but the pros are very much outweighing the cons. We are learning how all our features and appliances work. Continue reading “Two Weeks!”
My Favourite Thing
We are still getting settled. We’re not completely unpacked yet and are still waiting for some drawers and shelves to be finished, but we’re doing our best to get the space working properly. I have to say I am finding that there is more space in here than I expected. I know that probably sounds funny. I wasn’t sure what to expect but there is more room for some things and other things I have to get creative with to find space for. I have to say that my favourite thing so far is Continue reading “My Favourite Thing”
First Night
So last night was our first night in the tiny house! I did our first load of laundry, warmed up some soup on the stove, scratched the beautiful countertop a bit (ooops! apparently you shouldn’t drag items on butcher block – I’m new to this!), Continue reading “First Night”
